Baby Shower Time!

Over the weekend we hosted a baby shower for my sister-in-law and sweet little nephew. I wanted to do something unique and not just use the generic shower decorations that we've seen over and over again. I bought a big pad of pretty scrapbook paper and went to town... we used it for so many different things. Circle paper garland, triangle bunting, pinwheels, signs, tags and jar tops.

This is the circle punch garland that I made. You can find lots of tutorials for this online... I purchased a 3 inch circle punch and made a few of each colour. Matched the circles up randomly back to back  and then ran them through the sewing machine to attach them all together.

The pinwheels were made using the same paper... I cut out 5 inch squares and glued them back to back. Easy. Really Easy.
The food was fantastic. We kept it pretty and fresh with lots of fruit and veggies. I found small terracotta pots at the dollarstore that I wrapped in Washi Tape then added a piece of floral foam and some moss. I found the chalk board stakes at Michael's and they worked perfectly.

The mini bunting was again made with the paper scraps and I made diamonds that I folded over twine and hot glued. We used this to add to the food table.

This "Lucas" wall was my favourite part. I bought small canvases from the dollarstore and letters from Walmart. Painted them to match my theme and added the prepainted animals in the corner. I sanded the canvas, letters and animals to make them look less perfect and little worn.

I went to the cottage a few weeks ago and made my sister, borther-in-law and cousins into my minions. I had them baking and decorating sugar cookies that spelt out Lucas' name for the favours. We froze the cookies and then I put them into pretty mason jars with paper lids and "thank you" tags.

It was a great shower. We had a lot of fun and they got some really fun gifts!

Teal Cedar Chest - SOLD

We found this great cedar chest on Kijiji and picked it up a couple weeks ago in St Catharines. I really like the details on the front and the fact that its on legs. I also really like that this cedar chest is really shallow compared to a lot of chests and would make an excellent hall bench. The top on this piece was in great condition... the top seems to be where there is usually the most wear and damage... so we decided to leave it natural and add some more depth and warmth to the piece.

SOLD

Chest has been painted with Miss Mustard Seed's "Kitchen Scale" milk paint and sealed with beeswax. The top has been stained with dark walnut and then sealed with 2 coats of poly for durability.

Pretty Pink Princess Dresser - SOLD

Ever been really nervous about painting a piece and wonder if you've made the right choice in colour? This is one of those pieces. We're so so so excited with the result but it took a couple tries to get the final product. This dresser just screamed "PRINCESS" to me. I have wanted to try something pink and this seemed to be the perfect piece. I love the detailed mirror and the carved details on the legs and drawers. It was simple enough to not be in your face and the pink came out very soft and feminine.

Blue/Grey Vintage Buffet - SOLD

I just love this beautiful buffet. The detail on the doors and top drawer is really simple yet it adds a touch of character. The mirrored back is my favourite part. There is some marking and stains on the silvering but I think this just adds to the shabby chic look.

REDUCED PRICE $375.00

"Craftsman" Buffet/Sideboard - SOLD

This great buffet came into our shop and we liked it so much we decided to get it painted right away. The details on this buffet are great... I love the simple diamond shapes and the "caps" on the bottom of the legs. The short backboard adds a pop of colour and really stands out against the stained top. We painted this with Homestead House milk paint in "Craftsman" which is a pretty soft green.

Measures 57 1/2 inches long x 22 inches deep x 39 1/2 inches high (to the top of the backboard). There's loads of storage with the 4 drawers and 2 end cupboards.
